Project Manager and Geological Drilling Consultant
Ryan is an accomplished geological consultant with over 21 years of experience in wellsite supervision and project management. Since 2000, he has been a consultant within the oil and gas sector, overseeing the drilling of clastic multi-lateral wells, carbonate disposal, and carbon capture wells. His expertise includes supervising the drilling of deep basin clastic horizontal wells influenced by foothills structures, including notable formations such as the Montney, Wilrich, Notikewin, Bluesky, Falher Sands, and the Charlie Lake carbonates. Additionally, Ryan has worked extensively in the Cardium formation and occasionally in the Swan Hills platform.
Ryan’s responsibilities have included compiling and publishing reports, proofing and printing logs, selecting core points, and supervising core cutting. He has provided crucial support in the landing of build sections, maintaining well paths in target formations, and ensuring trouble-free drilling operations. He also managed wireline logging and preliminary field interpretations, selected top-quality geologists for CBM, shale gas, and oil well projects, and handled administrative tasks such as hiring and supervising sub-contractors.
Throughout his career Ryan has also worked in the mineral exploration sector supplying services including GPS surveying, drill alignment, core logging, downhole surveys, grid placement, outcrop exploration, and camp maintenance. Since 2021, he has managed the day-to-day operations of a remote 90-person gold and silver exploration camp during the summer and fall seasons.
Ryan graduated with a diploma from the Northern Albertan Institute of Technology (NAIT) in 1997 as a Mineral Engineering Technologist, now known as a Geological Technologist.
